The Michigan Challenge Balloonfest event is one of the premier summertime activities in Michigan, offering entertainment for the entire family. Each year the people of Livonia celebrate the anniversary of the founding of the City with a week-long birthday party. Storytime at the Museum: Ann Arbor Japan Week at the UMMA

Japan Week, sponsored by the U-M Center for Japanese Studies, is a week of Japan-related programming for youth and families. Storytime at the Museum, which promotes art enjoyment for our youngest patrons, will feature a story about Japan this week, and a hands-on activity related to it. Lake Orion 4th of July Celebration

Bring your kids to see one of the best fireworks displays in the country! We will shoot from two platforms. One will be on the M-24 side of the lake and the other will be west of the Bellevue Bridge. Enjoy this exclusive opportunity to ride your bicycle through the Detroit Zoo on a 2-mile trail and enjoy an after-hours look at your favorite animals. This event is for guests of all ages! Saturday Sampler Tour: The Archaeology of Birth and Childhood at the Kelsey Museum of Archaeology!

Until relatively recently in human history, pregnancy, birth, and early childhood were dangerous times for women and children. On this tour, we will explore artifacts related to the protection of woman and children like amulets of Tawaret (the ferocious Egyptian hippo deity who protected pregnant mothers) or the bronze bulla worn by Roman children. Archaeology can also give us insight into the lives of children through their toys, games, and schoolwork.
