A2CT Technical Theatre Camp

Come learn about what goes on BEHIND the scenes in this very hands-on camp, led by Brice O'Neal, of Community High School's Community Ensemble Theatre (CET). Each day of the one-week, full day camp will focus on accomplishing a specific goal or project. Each full day session will include hands-on work in the A2CT scene shop (building set pieces, painting flats, etc.) and studio work (lighting, sound, etc.). In addition, participants will create a notebook with all the information they learn, and will participate in an end-of-camp showcase.
Topics will include:

Theatre and shop safety

Basic theatre and technical terminology and practices
·
Set building basics - wall flats, stage braces, platforms
·
Scenery decorating techniques and painting
·
Props
·
makeup - basic stage makeup/fun makeup
·
Sound editing, sound editing
·
Lighting,
·
special effects both high tech and low tech - crash box, thunder sheet, fog, etc...
·
Stage management basics - calling a show
·
Technical direction and basic design - knowing how to read design for example ground plan basics
·
Theatre trivia and tradition (the fun stuff) - What is a ghost light, why do you never whistle in a theatre, why do tech folks wear black? Etc...

For those in grades 4-12 (in the fall of 2017)
COST: $300 for non-A2CT members, $280 for members
Campers will need to bring lunch each day
