The first half of the event will be Menotti's Amahl and the Night Visitors. The second half of the concert will be a Christmas Concert featuring soloists and members of the Main Street Opera Theatre Children's Chorus. This production promises to be one of the highlights of the holiday season.
Amahl and the Night Visitors is a timeless story of the power of faith and the meaning of love. The one-act opera tells the story of Amahl, a poor crippled boy, who lives with his mother in a village somewhere on the road to Bethlehem. When the Three Kings, following the star in the East, seek shelter for the night, the lives of Amahl and his mother are changed forever.Show time is just under one hour. The opera is sung in English. Children over the age of five are encouraged to attend with an adult.
