May 2017 Public Planetarium Schedule

The Sky Tonight: Live Star Talk

Saturdays  •  11:30AM,  1:30PM,  3:30PM

Sundays  •  1:30PM, 3:30PM

Bright stars, constellations, and planets are discussed in this live star talk, including a trip into space to look at far away objects.  We briefly discuss how light that travels to Earth from far, far away—the distant past—informs science about the Universe we live in today.

Eclipse

Saturdays  •  12:30PM

Get ready for the total solar eclipse occurring on August 21, 2017! By looking at both the history and the astronomy of eclipses, this program will help you understand the significance of this upcoming astronomical event. Michigan will experience a partial eclipse. This program is followed by a live star talk.

Back to the Moon For Good

Saturdays  •  2:30PM

Sundays  •  2:30PM

With recorded narration by Tim Allen (voice of Buzz Lightyear), this is a behind-the-scenes feature on the $30 million Google Lunar XPRIZE, the largest incentivized prize in history, to return robots to the Moon. Includes a short star talk.
