John U. Bacon: Lessons from the Endzone

Wednesday, June 1st, 8am-9:30am
at ZingTrain

John U. Bacon will talk about his latest New York Times bestseller,Endzone: The Rise, Fall and Return of Michigan Football. He’ll talk about the lessons it holds for organizations of all stripes, including: don’t treat your fans like customers, or they’ll behave that way; try to run your organization like a religion, more than a business (like Zingermans does); and remember that, boiled down, all organizations are built on relationships. Amazingly, Michigan’s constituents rose up, and self-corrected their beloved school in less than a year, and there are lessons in that, too. $50

Potlikker Film Festival

Wednesday, June 1st, 6:30pm-8:30pm
at Zingtrain

The folks down at the Southern Foodways Alliance have done an incredible job capturing the stories behind some of our most beloved Southern food makers in a series of award-winning short documentaries by filmmaker Joe York. Join us as we watch a few new films produced in late 2015 and early 2016 , all focusing on traditional, Southern foodways.

On the menu: fresh popcorn with Nueske’s Applewood Smoked bacon, Cornman Farms’ mini pulled pork sandwiches, Sea Island sweet potato chips and Zingerman’s Bakehouse bacon pecan sandies. $30
Wine and Beer available at a cash bar.

Bakin’ with Bacon

Thursday, June 2nd, 1pm-5pm
Friday, June 3rd, 1pm-5pm
OR Saturday, June 4th, 8am-12pm

at BAKE!

We’ll be using the power of bacon to flavor three amazing baked goods, all in honor of Zingerman’s Guide to Better Bacon (available at all Zingerman’s locations). You’ll make a similar version of our wildly popular peppered bacon farm bread, bacon cheddar scones found in the book, and sweet and salty bacon pecan sandy cookies. We’ll take you to hog heaven with a demonstration of our maple glazed bacon apple doughnuts. Try and contain yourself. You’ll leave BAKE! with our recipes, the knowledge to recreate them at home, two loaves of bread, a dozen scones, three dozen cookies and great coupons. $125

The Bacon Ball

Thursday, June 2nd, 7pm-9pm
at Zingerman’s Roadhouse

A dinner featuring author Mark Essig sharing stories from his new book Lesser Beasts: A Snout-to-Tail History of the Humble Pig. $75

Fresh Taste of Detroit

Friday, June 3rd, 1pm-10pm

Camp Bacon hits the road with Zingerman’s Food Tours this year for our very first high-energy tasting jaunt through the markets, kitchens, and breweries of Detroit. Our food adventurers will go behind the scenes to meet the chefs and taste-makers at the heart of the Motor City’s vibrant food scene.

  • We’ll start at Eastern Market, Detroit’s historical food hub and ground zero for the urban farm-to-table movement, and check out the street art and the Dequindre Cut Greenway.
  • Next, we’ll enjoy a slice of pizza at Supino’s, and learn more about the market.
  • Linda Yellin, owner of Delish Detroit Tours, will be our guide as we examine Detroit’s history through its architecture, land use, and new development as we roll through the streets of Motown on to Wright and Co., located in the stunningly refurbished Wright-Kay Jewelry building. We’ll be joined by Chef Marc Djozlija, as we enjoy a pork-centered small plate and cocktail.
  • On to Corktown, Detroit’s oldest neighborhood, and Two James Distillery for a tour and tasting of their award-winning spirits.
  • Our final stop will be Revolver, the hottest pop-up in Detroit, for a full snout-to-tail pork dinner and drinks with owner Peter Dalinowsky, and a secret guest chef.

Your hosts for this tour will be BAKE!'s own Dan Centurione and his wife Janene. All food, drink, guides, and transportation are included. The tour begins and ends at Zingerman’s Roadhouse in Ann Arbor, and we’ll travel in a luxurious private bus. $290

Camp Bacon Street Fair

Come on down to the market – just a block down from Zingerman's Delicatessen! – to celebrate great pork with a three-hour street fair with an array of vendors selling, sampling and showcasing all things bacon—a great way to have lunch, sample new bacon fares, or just have some fun with bacon-based games for kids of all ages.
