Hometown Heritage: Monroe’s America 250 Celebration

This summer, Downtown Monroe will come alive with patriotism, music, and community spirit during Hometown Heritage: Monroe’s America 250 Celebration on Wednesday, July 8, 2026. As the nation marks America’s 250th anniversary, the City of Monroe will join communities across the country in celebrating this historic moment with a reading of the Declaration of Independence, held on the 250th anniversary of its first public reading in 1776. This patriotic celebration offers residents and visitors an opportunity to reflect on the words that helped shape the nation and continue to be remembered nearly two and a half centuries later.
