The Michigan Out-of-Doors Youth camp offers unique day camp programs for children ages 5-14. Our camp focuses on engaging campers in the outdoors and connecting them with the environment. All of our campers will have the opportunity to kayak, explore our forests, hone their skills on the archery range, build survival shelters and fires, make lifelong friends.

Please help us keep this calendar up to date! If this activity is sold out, canceled, or otherwise needs alteration, email mindy@kidsoutandabout.com so we can update it immediately. If you have a question about the activity itself, please contact the organization administrator listed below.

The Michigan Out-of-Doors Youth Camp is held for six weeks during the summer at the Cedar Lake Outdoor Center in Chelsea, MI. For the summer of 2021, we will operate exclusively as a day camp. This camp stands out among the rest due to our emphasis placed on engaging youth in the outdoors and connecting them to the environment. We pride ourselves on our curriculum that teaches outdoor skills such as conservation and environmental sciences, target shooting, backpacking, wilderness survival, forest management, watercraft safety and much more.

During their week at camp, youth will increase their knowledge of ecological concepts and broaden their awareness of conservation issues through hands-on nature experiences. They will also have the opportunity to practice technical skills including fishing and hunting techniques as well as riflery and archery. Our inquiry-based curriculum allows campers to investigate the natural world around them while gaining new skills and confidence in the outdoors. Campers are kept in small groups of no more than 10 to ensure they receive individualized instruction and to keep each camper safe while in our care. Extensively trained staff members work to deliver quality instruction and are held to the highest standards at all times. Campers will return home feeling positive about their experience and excited about the new skills they learned while at camp.

We will run day camp programs for six weeks from June 28th to August 6th for campers ages 5-14. Each week of camp will have a different theme. Here is what this summer will look like:

6/28-7/02: Week 1: Conservation Connection

7/05-7/09: Week 2: Fishing

7/12-7/16: Week 3: Wilderness Survival

7/19-7/23: Week 4: Conservation Connection

7/26-7/30: Week 5: Forests

8/02-8/06: Week 6: Wetlands

Each week will focus on whatever that week’s theme is. However, all of our campers will still be immersed in a variety of outdoor activities such as fishing, swimming, kayaking, shelter building, fire building, archery and so much more.

Our Day Camp will run M-F, from 9 am-4 pm with early drop-off and late pickup options available. Parents need to provide a packed lunch and a swimsuit each day.
