Come celebrate the 87th birthday of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. with our annual “MLK, Jr. Day: Give Us the Ballot” event on Monday, January 17 at the Detroit Historical Museum.
Please help us keep this calendar up to date! If this activity is sold out, canceled, or otherwise needs alteration, email mindy@kidsoutandabout.com so we can update it immediately. If you have a question about the activity itself, please contact the organization administrator listed below.
Visitors can participate in a voter registration project for kids as well as listen to an expert on the importance of registering to vote. Kids will make their own ‘mock’ voter registration cards and receive MLK worksheets and coloring pages.
The inspiring day will also include drop-in guided tours of Detroit 67: Perspectives and performances by the Renaissance High School Choir, Aleca Gleser, Freedom Players and 3D Dance Troupe. The event will conclude with cupcakes and a sing-along to Stevie Wonder's "Happy Birthday."
Admission is free with registration!
