Our group meets at the Belle Isle Nature Center at 10:30 a.m. on hike days and we drive or walk to our hiking location. These hikes are great for families or anyone who wants to connect with nature. All ability levels are welcome. We stay together as a group and our pace is the speed of the slowest participant. Please dress according to the weather and be sure to wear comfortable walking shoes. You may also wish to bring sunscreen, water and insect repellant.
Once the hike is over, participants are encouraged to visit the nature center, Dossin Great Lakes Museum, Belle Isle Aquarium, Belle Isle Conservatory the James Scott Memorial Fountain, the beach and the playscape. While these hikes are free, a Recreation Passport is required to drive your vehicle on to Belle Isle; the cost is $11. A Recreation Passport is not required for visitors accessing the park by foot, bike or public transit. Please RSVP
