T(ween) Introduction to Drawing with graphite (ages 9-12)

In this class, students will explore drawing fundamentals through engaging projects designed to spark creativity and refine their technique. From mastering pencil shading and perspective to experimenting with vibrant mixed media, each session offers a blend of traditional and contemporary approaches.
Our approach focuses on nurturing each student's artistic growth while building confidence in their abilities. Whether creating detailed still-life compositions, dynamic portraits, or imaginative scenes, students are supported to express themselves freely and explore their unique style. Please note that this class will not include drawing anime or cartoon characters.
What will we focus on:
Goal: Master foundational drawing skills such as line weight, proportion, and basic shading.
- Project: Create a still-life drawing using pencils, focusing on observational skills and accurately rendering objects.
Goal: Understand the principles of perspective to create depth and spatial relationships in drawings.
- Project: Draw a simple interior scene or cityscape, applying one-point or two-point perspective techniques.
Goal: Learn facial proportions and features to create realistic portraits.
- Project: Complete a portrait study that captures likenesses and expressions using pencil or charcoal.
Goal: Experiment with combining different drawing materials and techniques for creative expression.
- Project: Create a mixed media artwork using pencils, markers, and pastels to explore color blending and texture.
