Name of Program: The Underground Railroad in Southeast Michigan
Date and Time: Monday, February 10, 11:00 AM-Noon.
Location: The Chateau at Elizabeth Park
Info about Program: Learn about the history of the Underground Railroad in southeast Michigan, Detroit and along the Detroit River. For many Freedom Seekers, getting across the river was the last leg of the long and difficult journey to Canada. Learn about how George DeBaptiste formed a secret organization and purchased a steamship to aid the Underground Railroad and transport people to Freedom. Also discussed here will be some historic Underground Railroad sites just across the river in Canada.
We will cancel only in extreme weather conditions. In this case, you will be emailed by 4:00 PM on the day before the program and given credit for a future program.
