In 2017, the City of Farmington Hills Cultural Arts Division was awarded a grant by the Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs to support the Farmington Hills Youth Theatre and its related programs. The funding was partially used to develop a Young Playwrights program for middle and high school students to develop their voice and share their vision through theatre. An application process ensued, and eight talented participants in grades 7-12 worked under the guidance of award-winning playwright and published author Stephen Mack Jones; and actor and director, Ethan Kankula.
Auditions will be held Saturday, September 29 from 10am-2pm at the Costick Center located at 28600 W. Eleven Mile Rd. in Farmington Hills. Open to beginners and experienced actors, residents and non-residents in grades 7-12. NO FEE TO AUDITION. Please bring a recent school photo to auditions, all other materials supplied; nothing needs to be prepared in advance. All materials will be available online at least two weeks prior to auditions. World premiere performance will be on Friday, November 30 at 7 PM. For further audition information please visit fhgov.com/youtheatre or call Jessica Guzman-Dunn at 248-473-1856.
