Everyone can get involved in the science summer fun at Sloan Museum!

Vikings of the Sea June 27, 1:00 – 4:00pm @ Sloan Museum Fee: $10 Learn all about these seafaring warriors while exploring Viking history, geography, and culture. Make your very own magnificent longship to take home.

Investigating Air July 5, 9:00am – 12:00pm @ Longway Planetarium Fee: $10 Air is all around us and exerts incredible force. Investigate the properties of air while building your favorite paper airplanes and building and launching a hot air balloon model.

Wetlands and Watersheds July 6, 1:00 – 3:00pm @ Longway Planetarium Fee: $10 Build and manipulate wetland and watershed models while learning how these features of the environment contribute to healthy water systems. 

Geocache Hunters July 8, 1:00 – 4:00pm @ Sloan Museum Fee: $10 Go on a geocaching adventure at Sloan Museum! Learn how to use GPS coordinates, make your own trade item and geocache box, and find hidden caches.

Microscopic Investigations July 14, 1:00 – 4:00pm @ Longway Planetarium Fee: $12 Use hand lenses, Magiscopes, and microscopes; learn how to use these tools to see the unseen! Prepare and view slides while learning about cells. 

Let’s Get Medieval July 18, 9:00am – 12:00pm @ Sloan Museum Fee: $10 Step back in time to explore knights of the Middle Ages. Learn how to become a knight and design your own armor for battle.

Digging the Past July 22, 9:00am – 12:00pm @ Sloan Museum Fee: $10 Go on a simulated archaeological dig to learn about people and cultures of the past. What objects will you discover to solve this history puzzle?

WHOOO Eats Who? Food Webs July 26, 1:00 – 4:00pm @ Longway Planetarium Fee: $10 See how energy moves from the sun through the food web while dissecting owl pellets and making a food web project. Explore adaptations that make animals good hunters and keep other animals from becoming lunch.

Cartoon Physics July 29, 1:00 - 3:00pm @ Longway Planetarium Fee: $8 These silly hands-on activities will put the fun in physics! Make your own cartoon character and use it to explore gravity, air resistance, and other science concepts.

Shipwrecks of the Great Lakes August 4, 1:00 – 3:00pm @ Sloan Museum Fee: $8 Explore famous shipwrecks of the Great Lakes and underwater archaeology.
