Winter Hi-Brrr-Nation at Oakwoods Metropark

Oh, no, where did the animals go? Come join us in discovering where certain animals go when winter arrives. In Michigan, mammals have three choices to survive winter months: adapt, migrate, or hibernate. How do they choose their hibernaculum (hibernation site)? Let’s answer these questions together, make our own hibernaculum, and go on a hike to find possible signs of animals hibernating.

What to Expect:
This program starts indoors, ends outdoors. The time, approximately 60 minutes, will be spent indoors; the remaining 60 minutes will be spent on a leisurely walk. We will conclude at the Oakwoods Nature Center. The planned path surface is dirt and gravel, and mostly flat and level.

Ages: Fun for all ages!
