MiPAC: the FUN New Music Camp

Welcome to the Michigan Performing Arts Camp! You're invited to join our PREMIERE SEASON for an exciting, fun-filled, and unforgettable summer of music.

What Makes MiPAC FUN

At MiPAC, it's the campers who get to do ALL the fun stuff -- without any artificial musical limits or restrictions!

  • MiPACers can choose to focus on one instrument - or to play a different one in every ensemble.
  • They may stick to one musical genre - or try out every style that we offer.
  • There's no added cost to experiment with new things, no penalty for indulging your curiosity.
  • Your only limit is the number of hours in a day!

What Makes MiPAC the BEST Music Camp

MiPAC gives you the chance to play EVERY kind of music that you love, by giving you the MOST musical  opportunities of any summer music camp.

  • Choose from over 30 ensembles and classes.
  • Perform in up to 25 public concerts.
  • Every group performs every week, playing different music each time.
  • In addition, we have our one-of-a-kind "Kitchen Sink Recital," an opportunity for every MiPAC participant to perform ANYTHING. It may be music, original songs, a scene from a play (or an original one!), vaudeville, magic, dance, interpretive martial arts - whatever!

We never forget our roots, though! We have all traditional music camp offerings, including:

  • Four orchestras
  • Three bands
  • Four choirs
  • Two jazz ensembles
  • Multiple small combos and chamber ensembles.

What Makes MiPAC Exciting

MiPAC also offers an entire program in NEW MUSIC, in which campers learn to create their own musical works. Imagine! Your very own original music being performing live, every week! Our NEW WORKS program includes:

  • Songwriting
  • Beginning and Advanced Composition
  • Rock Bands
  • Filmmaking
  • Audio Engineering
  • Most exciting is our NEW MUSICAL WORKSHOP. In just two weeks, campers produce their own original one-act musical, and perform a staged reading every other Saturday.

MiPAC's instructors are selected from among the country's top music schools and conservatories. We also have weekly Visiting Artists, representing the finest professional musicians in the world, who come to MiPAC to give our kids free masterclasses and concerts.
